The rules, and where they come from

Buying from a dealer

Nunavut levies no sales tax, so a vehicle carries the 5% federal GST and nothing else.

Read from the territory’s own rate sheet, which sets out income, payroll, property, petroleum, tobacco and insurance premium taxes and no sales tax. That is an absence rather than a statement, which is why this is medium rather than high.

Run the numbers

The calculator prices a vehicle over its whole life, not just the loan: insurance, fuel, maintenance and licensing on top of the payment. Today it does that with Ontario figures.

How we got these numbers

One honest limit: the full calculator models Ontario. Insurance, licensing and the fee set are Ontario figures in this version, so the all-in monthly number it gives you is an Ontario number. The Nunavut tax rules above are sourced and correct, and they are not yet wired into the payment engine.
